Today April 4th has been declared International Topless Jihad Day!
When Tunisian activist Amina Tyler bared her breasts on the Internet with “FUCK YOUR MORALS” written on her body, she stirred the pot of the feminist revolution that is already underway in countries where women can still get stoned to death. They’re sick of Sharia law, sick of the oppression, sick of living in fear. And they’re taking a stand.
Amina’s protest outraged many Islamic men, including Almi Adel, of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. He said, “The young lady should be punished according to sharia, with 80 to 100 lashes, but (because of) the severity of the act she has committed, she deserves be stoned to death.”
Wow! It’s amazing that people can be so afraid of breasts? And of course, afraid of women having any power at all, especially over their own bodies. Gee, does this all sound familiar? It reminds me of the abortion rights war going on right here in “freedom” central where laws are being passed to force women to get unnecessary trans-vaginal probes if they want to exercise their freedom of choice. That’s how I define rape, Todd Akin. Maybe you can “shut that whole thing down.”
But let’s get back to the boob-bearing feminists! Protesters from the Ukrainian women’s power group FEMEN held “International Topless Jihad Day” today in honor of their Tunisian sister in capitals such as Berlin, Kiev and Paris, painting their bodies with messages like “Bare breasts against Islamism,” “Free Amina,” “No Masters, No Slaves” and more.
“We’re free, we’re naked, it’s our right, it’s our body, it’s our rules, and nobody can use religion, and some other holy things, to abuse women, to oppress them,” Alexandra Shevchenko of FEMEN said at a small demonstration in front of a Berlin mosque. “And we’ll fight against them. And our boobs will be stronger than their stones.”
Apparently Amina is with her family now, not being stoned to death, but perhaps being oppressed in some other way? I can’t find any updated news. I hope to find something out soon. I’m hoping for a happy ending, but one thing is for sure – without brave pioneers, new frontiers for women will never be won.
These FEMEN chicks kick ass, and I’m proud to stand in solidarity with them and Amina in declaring April 4th “International Topless Jihad Day!”
