Okay so here’s where I have to admit that I eat seafood. I apologize to my vegan Twitter followers, but I don’t know when I’m going to give up fish and seafood. I guess that makes me a pescaterian, not a vegetarian, but somehow I’m still going to use the vegetarian label. I know it’s hypocritical, but for me there is a big difference between a shrimp and a fuzzy lamb.
But politics aside, it was my birthday yesterday so I went to get myself a treat for lunch time, and miraculously Richard joined me and ate salad too! The birthday flowers were sent by my mom – thanks mom!
I bought lump crab at Trader Joe’s, later realizing the ‘hidden’ brand was ‘Chicken of the Sea.’ Here’s hoping that’s not translated as ‘dolphin killers of the sea’ – ANYWAY – I mixed it up with a teeny bit of mayo, salt and chopped cucumber and threw it onto a bed of spring greens with chopped avocado and a couple of cherry tomatoes, which actually look better than they tasted. Stay tuned for a rant on California tomatoes in another post.
But the result was delicious! And didn’t make me sleepy for the rest of the day!
You can enjoy it even if it’s not your birthday.
